Never Alone

I shoot a lot of sunset silhouette photography, but this one’s different — there’s a story behind it.

Erica and I were out for a sunset walk one evening when we came across this bench. I had an idea and asked her to sit down and pretend she was missing me while I was away overseas for a few months. She played along, and this is the shot I got.

The story behind this sunset bench silhouette

On the surface it’s just a woman sitting alone at sunset. But look closer and there’s more going on — she’s not really alone at all. Somewhere out there, someone’s thinking about her. Or maybe it’s less about a person and more about something bigger keeping watch. I’ll let you decide.

Either way, she was never really alone. That’s the whole idea.

Makes you wonder who you’re thinking about right now, and who might be thinking about you.
