Décor & Illustration
My art begins with a special moment. A passing cloud, a beam of light, a quiet figure on a beach, or a sunset that lasts for only a moment.
To me, photography and painting are much more than just recording what was actually seen; they are about capturing a feeling, a question, a story, an emotion – nothing that can be logically defined or explained.
A photograph or painting is like a movie but compressed into a single frame. The viewer sees the one moment captured in the image and is left to imagine everything that came before it and everything that might come after. It is similar to Jazz in that it just can’t be explained with words or reason.
The image is just a seed of a story, and the viewer is left to create the whole story and what it means to them, but more importantly, how they feel about it. Fine Art does not give the viewer a logical message; instead, the viewer creates their own emotional response. This is how Art differs from illustration and Décor.
Décor is not “Art” in the sense that Art has a deeper emotion or meaning. Decor is having things in a room that match the color of the carpet or drapes. It is decoration.
