A New Beginning

It was one of those sunsets that as a photographer I love. The sky was full of high level clouds and there was a strange misty glow that cast a heavenly color on everything. It was New Years Eve 2025 and my wife and I were driving home and not too far from the coast, so on an impulse I turned down a small partially hidden road and hoped I would find the coast before sunset. Boy was I lucky. The road lead to this pier just as the sunset was coming into its full glory. I grabbed my camera and ran to the waters edge and started clicking. As the minutes ticked by the sunset got more and more striking. I looked over at my wife who was standing next to the car and noticed she was totally entranced. I must have clicked off 100 photos of this sunset. Trying to pick out the best one is not possible because they were all amazing.
Anyway, on a philosophical note, it was a glorious end to the year. I was going to call this photo “The glorious end,” but changed my mind when thought it was actually an incredible start of 2026.
When I look at this image I remind myself this was supposed to be “A new beginning.” It occurred to me that every day is actually a new beginning, so why not make new years resolutions everyday, instead of just once a year! I never keep them anyway so why not.
