I was at the beach near Melbourne, Australia one afternoon and this guy came walking by, lost in his thoughts. I wondered what the heck this guy could be thinking about so intently. He could be thinking about almost anything: his dog, his wife, his job, his God, the past, or one of the many mysteries of the universe.
It occurred to me that it’s amazing how many different things a person could be thinking about, and nobody would have a clue what it was. So, I decided to follow him for a few minutes to see where he went and hoped that it might give me a hint. I knew it was a silly thing to do, but I was curious to find out.
I followed him for a few minutes along the beach and bingo! Since we were in Melbourne, I should have known — he was most likely thinking about his next cup of coffee, and sure enough, he stopped at the beach kiosk and ordered one.
