When I was young, Sunday School books always seemed to show God the same way — as a sunbeam breaking through clouds. Even then, I remember wondering why. Why a sunbeam, of all things? Why not something else entirely?
That question stayed with me longer than most of what I learned in those classrooms. Now, decades later, I still think of it every time I see one. On this particular stormy day, the sun broke through with a beam so dramatic, so undeniable, that the old childhood image came rushing back — and for a moment, science and belief weren’t arguing with each other at all. I just had to believe.
