About the time I turned 10 I learned how to surf on a board. We lived near Kailua Beach in Hawaii, and I would often go there and attempt to surf. The waves broke right on the beach so it was not a great surfing spot, but I spent hours there trying. Looking back on it now I did learn an important lesson: If you are going to do something, do it right or don’t do it. Learning to surf in a bad spot is not a good idea, but it was fun.
